Promises and Excuses

Well my lovelies, I’m chalking up this latest blogging break to unexpected computer issues, the added pressure of a new job, and my own personal reasons, but suffice it to say, I’m back!!! I’m so sorry for getting behind in reading and responding to all your wonderful posts on your blogs and as well as the comments and feedback you’ve given me here, but I’m up and typing and busy getting back down to blogging buisness! So thank you for the tags, nominations, and flat out patience, I promise to get to them all in time, along with my own posts of course. And I’m writing the next installments in the Fairest series and the Ratha James story now, so expect to see them soon!

Thanks again my lovelies and I’ll post again soon!

Thankfulness And A Little Downton Abbey

Happy Thanksgiving my lovelies, I hope you’re having a wonderful, relaxing, and family and friends-filled holiday!!! Today I’m celebrating with a Downton Abbey marathon, which kind of feels like I’m having Thanksgiving at Downton itself (which is a delightful prospect truth be told)! I can only too easily imagine the sumptuous feast Mrs. Patmore and Daisy could prepare…

But wondrous feasts and impeccable manners aside, there really is so much that I’m thankful for in my life: my family and friends, my characters, their stories, and new exciting and terrifying new prospects on the horizon, just to name a few. But right now I want to say how incredibly thankful I am for each and every one of you. You my lovelies — whether you be old friends or new or even first-time readers — you make my life rich and absolutely wonderful. Your support, friendship, banter, and your own incredible blogs mean the world to me and I am just so thankful for all of you and for all the love and support I receive here at Moonstonemaiden! Thank you so much, you all rock something fierce! (And I’ll make sure to save you a piece of Mrs. Patmore’s delightful pecan pie!) ❤

Happiest of holidays,

— Tara

On The Horizon…

Hello my lovelies!!! I’ve missed you all like crazy in my (latest) absence (I have an excuse I swear!) and look forward to catching up with you all 😀 I’ve been on a bit of a reading binge, for like 8 months now, just reading, reading, reading EVERYTHING until about a month ago when I abruptly stopped, took a breath, and began thinking once more of my lovely place here on the blogosphere. I realize posting this late isn’t ideal so expect to hear from me again soon my lovelies, tomorrow most like, and we’ll have a nice catch-up and I’ll dish about my latest obsessions, aka loves (Outlander’s Jamie Fraser, Season Four of OUAT and more…)! See y’all tomorrow 😀

The Adventures of Ratha James Pt. Three

“Are you excited to be back?” Maddie chirped unaware that her friend was no longer listening. “Amalee! I asked if you were excited to be coming back?”

“Yes,” Ratha sighed, “It’s been too long Maddie. We’ve been gone too long.”

The sun was high and the rain gone when Ratha stepped out of the long ship and nearly flung herself into the arms of her closest and most beloved friend other than Madeline. In seconds Maddie was there and for a moment it was like it had been before: the three of them wild with freedom and privilege, running untamed through their fathers’ lands in Ireland, best friends, all but sisters. Tall, willowy Amalee James with her unusual dark coloring, a laughing Maddie Kingston, shapely even then, and the cunning and far-sighted Joona O’ Donald, already known as the future St. Clare amongst her friends, they had grown up together. Born within months of one another and their fathers’ land bordering each other, the girl’s had been thrown together young, sent off to play in the woods and the friendship they had formed had stuck, becoming unbreakable with age.

“I thought you’d never arrive!” St. Clare exclaimed as she pulled away from her friends, holding them at arm’s length to inspect them properly. Amalee needed sleep, but she doubted she would rest well on English soil; there was nothing to be done about that. Madeline looked well, thinner than she remembered, and darker. Both of her friends had been bronzed by the sun, – Ratha resembled a Spaniard with her dark hair and sun-kissed face! Their skin would never be the porcelain it was in their youth but it didn’t hinder their beauty in the least. “I feared you would be taken before you reached me.”

“The Captain would never allow us to be taken!” exclaimed a young girl as she stepped boldly from the little boat and reached back to help the others. She was fairly new to the crew but her fervor and belief in Ratha’s ability to protect her shone in every facet of her expressive face. Amalee faded in an instant and once again Captain Ratha James stood surveying her crew of forty women, the oldest in her early fifties, the youngest only eight. Forty pairs of eyes turned to her expectantly, excitedly. These women were her crew, her friends, her family and her responsibility. She protected them, sheltered and harbored them and they trusted her with their lives, she would not let that knowledge slip from her just because her feet were once again on English soil.

She stepped away from Joona and Maddie, planting her arms on her hips as she moved to stand before them all. “Listen up, your lives and mine depend on this. You are currently standing on the shoreline of the St. Clare family holdings. This,” she said pointing to Joona, “is Lady St. Clare and this is her home. While you are here you will abide by the rules she and I set to you or you will be punished however I see fit. For those of you who plan to depart, you will give your names and intended destinations to Ulsa, if you plan on not returning to us inform her. We will leave in two weeks from this day. If you have not returned and I receive no word of distress then I will leave you. Do not miss the tide.”

Immediately twenty or so women lined up to give their information to Ulsa, the ship’s head cook and scribe. Ratha surveyed them, they would all return to her, she was almost positive. She had known most of the women in this group for years, they would never desert her but if they did she knew it would only be because they had found something better. But even then, most still returned to tell their captain of such good fortune and she wished them well. For safety, she required them to travel in pairs or trios; no one was allowed to travel anywhere alone, and Ratha meant anywhere.

And just in case you missed them, here are part one and part two of this epic pirate tale!

A Wizard Is Never Late

Sometimes there is nothing more inspiring than spending a day in another’s world. As a writer, I appreciate the beauty of a well-crafted world and I always enjoy visiting the greats! The family and I are having an Extended Edition Lord Of The Rings day today (which we do often), so for the next 12-13 hours my home will be in Middle-Earth in the company of Gandalf, Aragorn, Arwen, Gimli, Merry, Pippin, Frodo, and Sam.
These are some of my favorite people to visit as they never fail to inspire and I always leave them filled with hope and the desire for grand adventures!
What about you my lovelies, do you enjoy the Lord of the Rings? Do you have a favorite character or sceen? What are your favorite worlds to visit? Let me know!

Hello my lovelies!!!!! Wow…has it been awhile or what?! Let me just say: This unjust and tortuous absence was not planned — or happily borne on my end I can ASSURE you — but when life throws you one ‘adventure’ after another you just have to go with it (and blog in your head, you guys have no idea how many posts I’ve constructed in my mind the past few months lol)! But I have to admit, blogging in one’s head is a very lonely and quiet affair and I much prefer the company of all my wonderful blogging friends in this wondrous blogosphere! I have missed all of y’all like crazy and shed many a tear over the situation, and fully intend to catch up on your blogs one at a time — so don’t freak out if you get like twenty likes and comments from me in one day lol. It just means you’re awesome and I have missed you terribly 🙂

Now I’m not sure how consistent my posts will be in the near future until we get the internet situation/nightmare figured out, I may only post on Thursdays and Fridays for a while, but I figured I would go ahead and get a post in while I can! And this is just my Welcome Back Post, I’ll have a real Moonstonemaiden post up later 😀

I hope everyone had a wonderful year last year and an amazing New Year so far, and know that this year will be freaking awesome!

Hello My Lovelies!

Hello my lovelies, I have missed y’all so much! Thank you all for your well wishes regarding my move, they mean so much to me and I just  wanted to let you know how much I’ve appreciated them. The move has not gone as smoothly as planned, there have been  some unforeseen events but now I hope everything is back on track. Unfortunately, I am still without internet and may be for some time, but I will try to post as often as I can. I’ve missed you guys all so much, and I miss reading your blogs everyday, but don’t worry, I’ll catch up sooner or later! All my love and best wishes…Moonstonemaiden.
