About

Hello fellow bloggers 🙂

Hmm…what to say about myself and this blog…I’m never good at these things.

*Sigh*

I am a lover of books, movies, music, history, mythology, friendship, my family, and writing. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember — my early material was an amalgamation of tv shows, favorite book characters and my own interesting childhood experiences as a Scottish history reenactor. I’d like to say my work has matured since then — though really there’s nothing more fun than playacting history, and talk about a helpful writing tool! I’m a poet, a novelist, an essayist and now a blogger. I love movies (romance, british, comedy and adventure), music of all sorts (musicals –Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable — pop, country, alternative ect.) and BOOKS! Oh the books, there are far too many to list but my tastes span the genres from classic to paranormal romance to historical fiction. Walking into a bookstore is like readying for an adventure but not knowing what exactly to pack: traveling gear, a picnic basket, a magic wand! Oh the possibilities!

But writing is my love; writing is freeing, breathtaking, difficult and time-consuming! There is nothing like the beautiful sound of a clicking keyboard! Writing is a gift, it takes practice and patience to perfect your own personal writing style and I’ve  decided that this blog will mostly be my attempt to help other writers with whatever advice I feel I can share. Of course, there will be a few general musings thrown in as things cross my mind or strike my fancy; it can’t be all work and no play 😀 If you have any questions or general remarks just leave me a comment!

  1. Hey saw your comment on Shyness and Introversion and thought I would pop on over. 🙂 Always glad to find another lover of book. I’m also a MASSIVE fan of Phantom of the Opera, I only just found out that it was also a book! So I can’t wait to get my hands on that.

Good luck with your writing. 😀

    • Thanks and thanks for visiting! I hope you like the site. I discovered there was a book version right after I watched the movie and rushed out to buy it, and in it’s own way, the book is good but if you’re expecting it to be the musical prepare yourself because it’s not! There are vast differences and I much prefer the musical (I don’t know why I expected it to have the songs in it but for some reason I did, lol).

      • I do, I love your blog name actually, how did you come up with it?

Ohh really? I thought that might be the case. Hopefully it will be different in a good way. :S Ha ha! Don’t worry, I kinda had the weird hope that the songs would be in the book even though I know logically they won’t be. 😛

        Thanks for following! 😀

      • You’re welcome 😀 And as for my blog name…it took me forever to come up with actually, even though the answer was staring me in the face lol. For my eighteenth birthday, my parents gave me this beautiful rainbow moonstone ring (since I love all things Avalon related and celtic lore) and ever since, moonstones have been my thing. So after fiddling with the word ‘moonstone’ for a bit, moonstonemaiden finally emerged! 😀

  2. What pulled me to visit your blog was the white rose. Love roses! And the name – really caught my eye. Now that I’m here, the imagery you use is gorgeous. Well, that’s as far as I got. Now I have to read something. Best to you.

  3. I really liked your blog, so I have nominated you for the Liebster Award. If you choose to accept, put it on your blog, answer the questions I have posted, post eleven random facts about yourself and then list eleven questions for eleven blogs that you would like to nominate. Look forward to reading more of your posts.

  4. I saw you Liked one of my posts and as soon as I saw your name–Moonstonemaiden–I had to come over! Love the name. Your whole blog has such a magical feel to it–I think I could spend some time in your background!

    • Thank you! Feel free to spend as much time there as you want, it’s a gorgeous picture that I instantly fell in love with — probably because purple and green are two of my favorite colors, lol. 😀

A writer-advice person (sorry, I use too many hyphens)!
I write and made a blog to showcase that. But I doubt I’m all that good. Any advice, fair moonstonemaiden?
See what I did there? Tried to, uh, sound like a medieval knight. Yeah. I’m not very good at these comment things.

    • Lol, I thought your comment was awesome, Good Sir Knight 😀 Umm, I don’t know about advise, what sort are you looking for? Writing critique, blog advise? Unfortunately I’m without internet at the moment, so I can’t really do much until I have internet again. 😀

      • Hmm. Probably blog-advice more than writing critique, which is a given. Everyone is welcome to criticism me! You are all equal critics of my work!

        Cause I’m a blog communist. A bloggunist.

I’d like blog advice because you’re quirky, which means awesome, and you’ve been blogging for far longer than I. Any good blogs to recommend, or advice for getting my name out there?

Thank you so much, fair maiden! I’m terribly sorry you have no internet. Must be awful.

      • Haha thank you 😀 Well checking out other blogs and commenting is what I did. I found an awesome group of bloggers and became friends and just kept blogging the random things that came to my mind. And don’t be afraid to let your real voice come through! Also the weekly wordpress challanges proved to be a great way for me to tap into different sections of my personality and vamp up my blog. And yes, having no internet sucks lol, but I look forward to checking out your blog as soon as I’m back online 😀 Oh and blogs I recommend, I would say check out the award posts I have up because all my recommendations are there! I hope this is helpful 😀

      • Yeah that’s pretty helpful. I’ve basically been commenting on stuff I find neat to network and meet people. I’ve seen some of the wordpress challenges, but it’s hard to think of what to say or write. Some of them are so deep, so emotional. My writing isn’t deep or emotional. It’s more like popcorn – a snack to enjoy.

I just compared myself to popcorn. Good job, me.

Anyways, I’m heading to your awards thing now, because you probably know a lot of good blogs. Thank you so much for taking the time to help! You’re the greatest!

  8. Hello There,
That’s why I love to check out community blog as it will lead me to find some really good blogger and their lovely posts. I count myself as aspiring writer and practicing my hand on short novella along with one big project and few short stories. I love to check out fellow writers stories such as you and learn few writing tricks on the way.

Though I am late on your “The adventures of Ratha James” , but will finish reading sparing few following weeks :). Following you now.

    Thanks,

    • Thanks 😀 Well, considering I was about eight at the time, it mostly consisted of me being dressed in period clothing and running around wherever we were, exploring and asking questions, but I also helped out with demonstrations of how-t0-do things like carve walking sticks and other arts and crafts and such. Basically we lived the life for people to watch, so they could see how things happened, it was educational and fun! 😀

  9. Is this something you did in the U.S. ? Are you Scottish? Or is your heritage Scottish? I’m interested because I was born in Scotland. I loved BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKs too. I am currently on a bit of a book buying binge.
